The Venue for the Worlds in 2018 – Aarhus Ø, is situated in the middle of Aarhus and is one of the city’s recreational oases. The district is entirely new and originated in connection with the expansion of the nearby urban harbor. Here, the architects were let loose. New and contemporary architecture is rising amongst the existing harbor communities. The characteristic Isbjerget (The Iceberg) has already become an icon at the entrance to Aarhus at the harbor. The entire area seems a charming canal town from where you can reach the center of Aarhus and the vibrant city life within minutes.
Beaches and water
At the northern part of Aarhus Ø you will find Strandbaren (The Beach Bar), which is a popular crowd-puller with a lounge area and activities for everyone. You will also find the largest urban garden, Ø-haven, here. Moreover, the area has received its very own observation tower. From here you can look over the lovely Aarhus Bay. Many of the watersports clubs of Aarhus are situated at the harbor as well.
Aarhus International Sailing Center
At the tip of Aarhus Ø the new International Sailing Center is being built. The center is expected to be finished in spring 2018. The Sailing Center has a view of, and direct access to, Aarhus Bay. Thus, the Sailing Center will be the ideal setting for SWC2018 in Aarhus.
