Regular visitors at the marina often ask questions like:

Is it true that the marina will be closed for us during the championships?

and

Will we be asked to leave?

The answer to both questions is no. On the contrary. We would love to have as many activities at Aarhus marina as possible. And of course, we would never ask any sailor og association to change their routines because of the event. It is our hope that the event will attract as many people as possible to join the celebration.

The Hempel Sailing World Championships 2018 is one of the largest sporting events in the world, so of course, there will be a lot of people at the marina. However, that does not change the fact that anyone can go saling just as they would normally do.

On Tuesday night we had a meeting with the associations of the marina. The meeting was part of an ongoing dialog, and we talked about the locations of the boat parks, the food stalls and the different activities that are taking place at the marina.

Many associations will be open to the public during the event. There are a lot of very nice initiatives such as open house events and test sailing events that we look forward to following – and the excitement seems to be mutual.

The participants at the meeting decided to create a working group to ensure that the communication between the organizers and the associations continues to be great. The purpose is to keep discussing the event and to share insights.

Want to Join the Celebration?

Everyone is more than welcome to host activities during the World Championships – as long as it has a maritime theme, of course. So if you are a member of an association that would like to take part in the celebration and you have not yet talked to anyone about it, please don’t hesitate to contact Charlotte Elkjær, who is our City Activities and Ceremonies Manager. You can reach her at cke@aarhus.dk

We look forward to even more great collaborations.
